Terms of use
ARDS Workup is published by AW&AP (ARDS Workup & Affiliated Products). It is a personal sandbox for education and practice: not a patient care tool, and never for patient data. By using it you agree to every point below. If you do not agree, do not use ARDS Workup. Legal notices go by post to ARDS Workup & Affiliated Products, 107 S Lane St #1003, Blissfield, MI 49228, United States.
- 1
Experimental software
ARDS Workup is an experimental beta, provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind. It may contain errors, and features may change or stop working at any time.
- 2
Never for patient care
ARDS Workup is a personal sandbox for education and practice. It is not a patient care tool or a medical device, and it has not been cleared or approved by any regulator. Its ARDSnet timer is a practice clock. Nothing in it may be used to make, guide or check decisions about a real patient.
- 3
No patient information
ARDS Workup does not store patient information and is not built to hold it. Use made-up practice numbers only. You must never enter a real patient's data or anything that identifies a patient. Anything you enter anyway is your responsibility alone.
- 4
Not medical advice
The developer is not a doctor, and nothing in ARDS Workup is medical advice. It does not replace physician orders, institutional protocol or clinical judgment.
- 5
No liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, AW&AP (ARDS Workup & Affiliated Products) and the developer are not liable for any loss, harm or outcome that comes from using, misusing or being unable to use ARDS Workup. They are also not responsible for anyone who signs these terms with a false name, a false e-mail address or someone else's details.
- 6
Your responsibility
You are responsible for how you use ARDS Workup, for all the data you enter into it, for everything you do with its results, and for following the law and the policies of any school or employer that applies to you. Using ARDS Workup in any way means you accept these terms, whether or not you have signed them.
- What these terms cover
- Every page, tool and document of ARDS Workup: the console and its ARDSnet timer, every in-app tool, The Math, the Save Load Engine, the Feedback Machine and every PDF it produces. Its formulas, advice and PDFs are practice material only and must never go into a patient chart.
- Your saved data
- Saved runs are sealed under a PIN only you know. Nobody, including the developer, can recover a lost PIN or the runs behind it, and clearing the app's storage (Settings > Apps > ARDS Workup > Storage in the Android app), clearing the site's browser data or uninstalling the app deletes anything kept on the device. Keeping your data file, and a copy of it, is up to you.
- Your information
- ARDS Workup is anonymous by design: it has no accounts, collects no patient information and keeps no personal information. Everything the workup keeps stays on your device, in the Android app's own app storage (never in a browser or a backup) or in your browser on the website. The only personal details it ever takes are the name and e-mail address on this signed PDF, confirmed by a passkey (your fingerprint, face or screen lock), or by a quick picture-based human check and a one-time code from your authenticator app, instead of a drawn signature. The human check stores only its answer, never anything about you, and is deleted within 30 minutes. The PDF is sent straight to the developer over an encrypted connection and is not kept on the site. The authenticator secret is used only to check that one code and is deleted as soon as it has been checked. A passkey keeps only its public key and the terms version it last signed here, never anything about you, so you can sign back in with it. The network (IP) address, time zone and device your browser shows while you sign are scrambled and never recorded; only your region (city, state or region, and country) goes on the PDF. Otherwise only anonymous counts are kept, with no name, e-mail, account, cookie or advertising ID behind them: per-visitor activity (your region, device type, whether you use the installed app, time on screen and which features are used) for up to 7 days, and daily totals that count visitors without identifying any of them for longer, to follow trends. None of it is tied to your name, e-mail or any other personal information. Your saved runs stay on your side, PIN-sealed on your device or in your own cloud.
- Fair use
- Do not attack, overload, scan or try to break into the site, and do not use it to send anything unlawful. Requests are monitored for security, as the privacy policy describes.
- Feedback
- Anything you send in the Feedback Machine may be used to improve ARDS Workup, with no obligation to you. Never put patient data in it.
- Changes
- These terms and the privacy policy may change. When a term changes, the effective date and version change with it and every device is asked to sign again.
New users sign these terms with their name and e-mail address before the console opens, after a quick picture-based human check, confirmed by two-factor authentication: a passkey (fingerprint, face or screen lock) or a one-time code from an authenticator app, in place of a handwritten signature. The name and e-mail go only onto the signed PDF, together with the region (city, state or region, and country) it was signed from. The authenticator secret is used for that one code and then deleted. The PDF is sent straight to the developer over an encrypted connection and no copy is kept on this site. The IP address, time zone and device are scrambled on screen and never recorded. Apart from that one PDF, ARDS Workup is anonymous: the workup has no accounts, stays on your device (in the Android app, in its own app storage) and only anonymous counts reach the site. The privacy policy explains everything else that is and is not collected.
